Home-Start Winchester and Districts

The leading family support charity

What they say

(Home-Start Winchester & Districts) is a valuable resource for our more vulnerable isolated families, and one we depend upon. The families that we have referred have benefitted immensely from the volunteers visiting them, taking them out and supporting them through difficult times.

On behalf of the Mothers’ Union in Winchester I would like to commend the professional relationship that exists between ourselves and Home-Start. The fact that we, as a Holiday provider, can rely on the very necessary confidential information that we require enables us support vulnerable families in a secure, safe, holiday environment.

I have had contact with Anne and the Home Start service ever since I began working at Child Guidance, five years ago. Anne and I exchange information on families that we have concerns about and we are able to refer families/children to each other’s service when necessary. I have been invited to talk to the volunteers on a number of occasions about mental health issues that arise within some of their families. I am always very impressed with the level of dedication and prior knowledge the volunteers have. I know the (families) that are offered support by Home Start volunteers are very fortunate. They offer invaluable support at a time when families really need it. I have certainly learnt from working alongside Anne and her ‘team’ and value the professional relationship that we have.
