Home-Start Winchester and Districts

The leading family support charity

Become a Trustee

The Board of Trustees meets quarterly and is responsible for the charity’s vision, for leading its strategic direction, for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and its performance and quality. It is also responsible for its financial management and security, good governance and employment of staff.

We are looking for new Trustees with particular skills and experience in marketing, the caring professions, finance and fund-raising. If you have time to spare (about ten to twelve hours/month) and would like to know more, please contact our Administrator Sue Barham on 01962 851177 or send us a message through our Contact Us page.

Recruitment, Appointment and Training of Trustees

All prospective Trustees are interviewed by the Chair and at least one other member of the Board of Trustees and their appointment considered by the Board at their next meeting. Once co-opted by the Board, the appointment is confirmed by the membership at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM). The term of office is generally for three years, although Trustees are eligible for re-appointment. One third of the trustees stand down at each AGM.

New Trustees are provided with a detailed Information Pack on Home-Start Winchester and Districts, guidance as to their responsibilities as charity Trustees, given an induction appropriate to their knowledge and experience, invited to attend Volunteer training courses and may attend a number of training courses throughout each year, provided through Home-Start UK.
